Today, we put the finishing touches on a 20-unit laptop cart at Houston Elementary. The second grade teacher, Ms. Renfer, is getting assistance from the district’s regional Technology Integration Specialist on how to best integrate technology into her curriculum.

The Philadelphia Children’s Foundation believes that the earlier students are exposed to technology, the better. So when an ambitious second grade teacher reached out, we were determined to try and help. The most important piece was figuring out how to go about integrating computers into her 2nd grade classroom. So when the District’s Technology Integration Specialist threw her hat into the ring, we were absolutely thrilled and committed to provide the laptops. Now we were sure that the equipment would be utilized in the best way possible!

Thanks to PCF Board member Greg Bermon for helping to mirror the machines and Jan Deruiter for figuring out how to retrofit a cart meant for much smaller/newer tablets. And of course the Radnor School district for donating these particular machines.

Earlier this year, PCF installed three desktop computers into her room already.

We need your help to continue offering these important programs. Please consider making a donation to support our work. Or contact us if you would like to support a specific school.
