PCF is thrilled to receive support from Univest Bank and Trust Co. Last week, PCF picked up 25 powerful Dell computers that had been partially refurbished already (the drives were wiped clean and all are in working order). And before the weekend was over, we received an email that they would have even more computers for us next week!
PCF supporters in the Northwest and South Philadelphia may be aware of Univest as they recently purchased Valley Green Bank.
We want to extend our thanks to Kimberly Detwiler, Sr. Vice President, Annette Szygiel, Exec. VP and Chief Experience Officer (right), and especially Alex Korostin, Enterprise Support Specialist (left) for getting these machines ready for immediate refurbishing!
We are truly grateful and excited to receive their support and have vowed to place the equipment into schools that are near their locations (Northwest and South Philadelphia schools). We expect to use this first batch of computers at Henry Elementary School in Mt Airy. Henry is expecting to receive a new lab next year but their current computers are incapable of running Flash and other essentials (rendering them basically useless). We just met with Principal Rogers at Henry and have plans to create an interim lab there and then use those computers for classrooms if and when the new lab arrives.
We need your financial support in order to make this happen; there are a lot of costs besides the computers to install them into schools (monitors, keyboards, mice, power strips, network switches, patch cables, labor, truck rental,…)
Below are some photos of our first equipment pickup at Univest in Souderton. Executive Director Jan Deruiter drove out to Univest headquarters and managed to fit 25 large Dell machines into his car. This might also be the first time Jan took a selfie (in the driver’s seat of a jam packed car 🙂 )
