A generous donor contacted PCF if we could use a baby grand piano. In cases like this, we did what we always do which is to contact our network of schools to see if any of them were in need.
Before long, Emlen Elementary let us know that they would love to have it. The donor was thrilled to have their beloved piano go to a good cause but now we had to figure out the logistics.
PCF then hired a piano moving company to get it from their home and into the auditorium. And we were thrilled to find out that the School District, despite the many cuts to music and arts programs, still had piano tuners on staff. So the piano got moved and subsequently tuned and has been used ever since for special performances in their auditorium such as Black History Show, Holiday Shows, Talent Shows and so on.
PCF did not realize at the time that this was perhaps the beginning of a new initiative to support music and theater programs at our partner schools.
