Thanks to St. Peter’s Church in Society Hill, and congregant Ms. Woods in particular (pictured above), PCF was able to offer assistance to a refugee family in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia. The family fled their native country of Congo and relocated to the United States with their four children, all of whom are serious students enrolled in various schools and programs.

In the process we learned just how many agencies, support organizations, and volunteer families are involved in this process. It truly takes a village. Philadelphia Children’s Foundation was delighted to be able to contribute in a small way by providing laptop computers to each of the four children.

We hope the computers will assist not only with their educational endeavors but also help them learn English more easily.

The highlight of our experience was being offered a delicious dinner and spending time with the family upon delivering the laptops. We wish them the very best and have vowed to support them with their computer needs for as long as needed.
